Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5 was temporarily taken offline due to U.S. export controls and then redeployed with *stronger and more visible safeguards*, but authoritative sources consistently state that it uses the same underlying Mythos‑class model and retains state‑of‑the‑art capabilities for general use, with limits only in high‑risk domains (cybersecurity, bio, etc.) that are now more strictly filtered or routed to Opus 4.8; there is no evidence that the core model was made broadly “less powerful than before” beyond these targeted safety constraints.
