Multiple reputable entertainment outlets report that Marvel Studios officially announced at San Diego Comic-Con that Ryan Gosling will star as Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider in a standalone Marvel Cinematic Universe film to be released in 2028, directed by Shawn Levy.[1][2][3][4][6][7][8][9][10][12] Nicolas Cage previously portrayed Ghost Rider/Johnny Blaze in Sony’s non-MCU Ghost Rider films from 2007 and 2011, so Gosling is succeeding Cage as the next big-screen Ghost Rider, and will be the first to play the character within the MCU.[5][13][9]
