Eli Lilly reported results from a Phase 2b, 48-week trial of eloralintide combined with tirzepatide, the active ingredient in Mounjaro. The highest-dose combination produced 23.3% average weight loss, compared with 14.8% for tirzepatide 15 mg alone, directly supporting the claim.

The Phase 2b study (NCT06603571) was a 48-week, parallel-group, double-blind, placebo-controlled study to investigate weight management with eloralintide and Zepbound, alone or in combination, in adult participants with obesity or overweight with type 2 diabetes.

People taking the highest dose of the combo regimen lost up to 23.3% of their weight, or around 54 pounds, on average.

A Phase 2 trial tested EloraTZP in 367 adults who were overweight or obese and had diabetes, and it found that the combination helped people lose between 13.2% and 23.3% of their body weight, depending on the dose, after about a year.
